When your nervous system hasn’t caught up yet.

Judy Tsuei between gold and white curtain

"Being a coach doesn't mean you stop being human."

My daughter and I had just landed back in San Diego from Vegas.

I was there for an EOA conference, and I surprised her by bringing her along for her birthday.

The days were full.

Me in conference rooms.
Her with her godmother at Meow Wolf.
Dinner at Momofuku with her school friends who happened to be in town.
The Shin Lim magic show.
The Museum of Illusions the next day.

By the time we got home, it was almost 9pm.

We had an early morning ahead. She was heading to Disneyland with her aunt, and I was staying back at the hotel to wrap the next round of edits on my manuscript.

Life was moving fast.

We realized we needed one last thing from Target. Bleary-eyed, we ran into the house just long enough for a snack and a bathroom break. Then I backed out of the driveway.

And I heard a scraping sound.

Sh*t.

I got out of the car.

In my fog — with foggy windows — I had hit my neighbor’s car.

I wish I could tell you that being a high-level mindset coach exempts me from the messy middle of being human.

It doesn’t.

I am still figuring out how to balance growing a business with being a good parent. I am still finishing a book that feels like a life’s calling while surrendering to the fact that I do not know what will come of it. I am still navigating the sandwich generation. A daughter launching into her teen years and parents moving into their twilight.

What I am naming here is not unique to me.

It's what happens when responsibility multiplies faster than capacity. When your nervous system has not caught up with the identity you are now building.

It's what happens when meaning, pressure, and love all pull on you at the same time.

When there is no single role you can succeed at without feeling like you are failing somewhere else.

Did you know that most of what we pursue in life is because we believe we will feel better once we have the result?

Many high achievers learned to survive by working harder, doing more, and monetizing their pain.

But what most people never learn is this:

Everything your unconscious mind is doing is trying to bring you back to wholeness.

Fragmentation is what creates friction.

When parts of you are in conflict, progress slows. Not because you are broken, but because those parts are asking to be integrated.

When you battle your fear, your inner critic, or your imposter syndrome, you are not fixing the problem. You are creating more separation.

Those parts are not enemies. They are signals.

If you paused long enough to ask, “What are you trying to tell me?” you might get a very different outcome.

So let me ask you something:

  • What would it feel like to have a settled nervous system?

  • What would it feel like to actually be at peace?

  • To trust that you are enough without proving anything?

When I hit my neighbor’s car, I was angry with myself.

It felt like another failure stacked next to learning that my manuscript was exponentially too long and that I would miss key deadlines for upcoming book fairs.

As I drove to run errands with my daughter, my mind spun:

How much would it cost?
How disappointed would my neighbor be?
What else was going to go wrong?

Then Wilder looked at me and said:

“It’s okay, Mom. What’s the worst that could happen? Miss Carrie’s a very nice person. Mistakes happen. You’re okay.”

And she was right.

The difference now is not that life is smoother.

It's that I do not have to live inside the spiral.

I can zoom out.
I can regulate.
I can soften fear in moments instead of days.

Before our trip, I went for a walk by the ocean and realized something else...

Maybe the delay with my book was necessary.
Maybe there are people who need time to be ready for it.

That single belief changed my nervous system.

That is how powerful perception is.

By the way, my daughter was right. I texted my neighbor before she even saw the car. She replied, “Mistakes happen. It’s okay! We’ll figure it out!”

Nothing bad happened.

What changed was not the outcome. It was my relationship to the unknown.

Everything I do with clients comes back to this moment.

The moment when the unconscious becomes conscious.
When a pattern is seen instead of obeyed.
When the nervous system realizes it no longer has to brace.

When that happens, life does not become perfect.

It becomes workable.

So I'll leave you with this...

What part of your life feels uncertain right now?

And what might shift if your system did not interpret that uncertainty as a threat?

P.S. For those local to San Diego, my membership co-chair and I are hosting a free event to share more about the Entrepreneurs Organization Accelerator program and what it looks like to scale with support. You’re welcome to join us.

I also have limited availability for new 1:1 clients through the end of January. If you’re curious, you can simply reply to this email or book a pressure-free assessment call to explore what working together could look like.

A different way forward...

If you are reading this and something inside you feels familiar, you are not broken...

You are likely living from fragmentation.

One part of you is pushing forward.
Another part is bracing for impact.
Another part is tired of holding it all together.

The Inner Blueprint™ is not about fixing yourself.

It is about learning how to listen to the parts of you that have been working overtime to keep you safe, successful, and functioning.

It's where we slow the system down enough for integration to happen.

Not through force.
Not through mindset.
But through awareness, regulation, and coherence.

This is for people who are outwardly capable and inwardly exhausted.
For those who have done the work and still feel unsettled.
For those who are ready to stop managing themselves and start trusting themselves.

If your nervous system has been carrying more than it needs to, this is your invitation.

You do not need to push harder.

You need to come home.
